What are the benefits of using a doula
Like a mother, we provide care and support for pregnant women and their families,
so that women who expect to give birth in the Netherlands can give birth with confidence.
Creating a birth plan
Thereafter the 20th week of pregnancy, we will discuss and make a birth plan.
Come with medical appointment together
We will also accompany prenatal meetings, and will support pregnant women and greet with midwives and obstetricians beforehand to facilitate communication with the medical team.
Weekly visits until childbirth (after week 37)
Relaxation, mental and physical preparation sessions for childbirth
Attending a birth
If you are unable to withstand labor pains during childbirth, you discuss with doula any time and she will tell your wishes to the Dutch medical team, so you can go to childbirth with confidence.
During labor, we use Rebozo, aroma oil, foot massage, acupressure, moxibustion and cupping therapy, to alleviate pain.
Mental and physical support
Is not a postpartum nurse.
Postpartum doula services focus on mother’s mental and physical support.
Postpartum doulas provide relaxation massage, soak yourself in a herbal bath, help squeeze the pelvis that is distorted during pregnancy, and provide support for mothers.
Care of mother and child at home
About one week from the first day after childbirth (4 to 8 hours working time)
The main tasks are maternal postpartum care and baby growth management.
On request, they also do cleaning, laundry, shopping and housework. And if you need to start a new life with your baby, some will give you breastfeeding advice.
In the Netherlands, hospitals and other practices often have many doctors and midwives. Depending on the timing of childbirth, it is common in the Netherlands to be assigned to a doctor or midwife you never met at a medical check-up. If doctors and nurses who meet for the first time have difficulties to ask or hear, the anxiety about giving birth to pregnant women will only increase.
What if there was a doula at that time?
The birth doula, which accompanies a pregnant woman before and after childbirth, acts on behalf of the pregnant woman and informs the medical team of things that the pregnant woman has difficulty in asking and listening to, and helps her to resolve her anxiety.
With the birth doula, anxiety about giving birth to a pregnant woman disappears and a great sense of security can be obtained.
Birth Doula finds the birth style that the mother and her family really want and provides total support before, during and after birth.
The birth doula is reassuring not only for pregnant women, but also for their families.
A birth doula not only rushes to the hospital and home at birth, accompanies the pregnant woman, supports the baby until birth, but also explains the status of delivery and medical terms to the family at any time during the delivery.
Even if the childbirth takes a long time, Doula will look at the childbirth status, talk to the pregnant woman and her family at the time of rest and when they can eat, so they can relax and start the childbirth. Also, having a birth doula gives the family time to call their relatives or workplace for a status report or to finish their children’s business.
When the baby is born, a doula will visit her home once and talk to her family about childbirth.
If you have any doubts or concerns about starting a new life with your baby, or if you need assistance such as breastfeeding, we will give you advice at this time.
